Castle cake tutorial part 1 - how to make a 3D buttercream Disney Princess style fairytale castle

Watch how make a 3D fairytale princess castle cake step by step. Every part of the castle is fully edible – its made with cake, and covered in buttercream (or a little chocolate) – and not fondant. There was too much footage for one video, so I split the tutorial into two parts. Here’s the first, the second will be coming soon 😊🏰✨

All the recipes and other links you’ll need are below. If you liked this video please give it a thumbs up, and why not share it with a friend 🎁

🍰 Don’t have protein powder? Use one of these variations instead:

🎂 Victoria sponge cake

225g butter
225g sugar
4 large eggs
225g plain or cake flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat an oven to 350F/180C (or 325F/170C fan).
Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time until incorporated.
Mix in the vanilla, then sift in the dry ingredients & fold in the flour until you get a smooth batter.
Pour into lined pans & bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

🏰 For this cake you need about 5 times this quantity of batter split between 3×8″ round pans, 2x 4″ round pans, and one each 8″ and 6″ square pans. I had to bake it in two batches. You also need quite a bit of space in your fridge and freezer. It’s a big cake!

Here is what you’ll need!

2 boxes yellow cake mix, prepared according to box
2 12 oz tubs buttercream frosting
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup brown sugar
5 cake cones
5 sugar cones

Divide the cake batter into one 9×9 pan and one 9×13 pan. Bake according to directions. Cut the 9×13 cake into one large and one small circle (about 6 inches diameter and 4 inches diameter. Frost the square cake, place the larger circle, frost it completely, place the smaller circle, and frost it completely. Place a cake cone in the center of the smallest circle. Frost the inside of the cone, and place an inverted sugar cone on top. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar on the cake to look like sand. Place more ice cream cone towers around the cake, and use some blue frosting to make the “ocean” on the plate. Enjoy
